Content Management System - Joomla!

Joomla! is an award-winning Content Management System (CMS) that will help you build websites and other powerful online applications.  Best of all, Joomla! is an open source solution that is freely available to everybody, released under the general public license (GPL).

Joomla! is touted as being friendly enough that anyone who has used a word processor on a computer could install, configure, and utilize it.  I agree with the last part, that once it is installed and more importantly configured, you could easily update the pages and add new content.  Even with my extensive experience, I had quite a learning curve to understand how to setup a basic web site using Joomla! and to get the cascading style sheet (CSS) and associated PHP file defined for the look and feel I desired.

I offer basic setup of the Joomla! software, including creation of the "template" which defines the look and feel for your site.  Your site menus are defined along with the content of the initial site pages.  I even configure an add-on for search engine optimization (SEO) -- really just a big term that means making the links friendly which help in Google's ranking.  You are provided with a manual for updating the site, and I even walk you through the Joomla! administrator interface.  Optionally, extra extensions (most are free) can be installed offering special features such as:

• product catalog and shopping cart,
• picture gallery,
• membership registrations with periodic fee charged automatically,
• newsletter (or other e-mail) distribution to subscribers with autoresponder capabilities,
• appointment scheduling,
• and more.
